VMWare Annoyance

Hello I am looking for some advice on my Vmware installation. I have this entire appliction installed correctly. I have installed WIn2k on it etc. This is simple enough. Now I have turned it off and I get this message:

GetSafeTmpDir: File "/tmp/vmware-root" has attributes that are incompatible with this application. Please delete or rename the file. If you do not have permissions to do so, please use environment variable TMPDIR.
Unable to obtain a temporary directory for the log file, exiting...
VMware Panic()'d. No log file was created yet.

I am unable to find a solution for this. Any suggestions? Thankss again.

Did you install it as root, cause the documentation for 4.5.2 states that you run in ./vmware-config.pl as the user you want to run vmware

I did install it as root but initailly I was able to access as a user as well as root. So I have no reason to believe that could be the source of my concern

I installed VMware as root, but I run with a different user. Running VMware as root can damage the whole entire computer. It is true that vmware-config.pl have to be run as root because it does some system related configuration.

If VMware works or does not crash when you exit it, you should not worry about the error message.
