VMWare 4 crash/freeze in SuSE 9
i know things arent supposed to crash in linux... i installed vmware workstation 9, followed directions, executed vmware-config.pl, created a new virtual machine. but the problem happens when i attempt to install XP -
first, i'm told i don't have vmware tools installed. second, during setup, the mouse is impossibly slow! i have to repeatedly drag the mouse over and over and it... slinks... uberslow across the screen. first time, i couldnt get past the "loading windows kernel..." part - second time, the same. third time, i got up to installing windows with 24 minutes left, and the whole thing freezes. i press stop/shutdown, and the whole program (not just windows setup... vmware itself) freezes. i'm unable to shut it down, i know i can go to the terminal and type "kill -l" and its number, but i can't figure out what the command is to list all active running programs. why is this happening, and what should i do? thanks |
I don't know if this will help but when I did a yast software update for 9.0 from a suse ftp mirror it installed a k_vmware module. You might want to try this, but be forewarned, the complete update took me hours.
