Thumbs down VLC Player on RHEL7


Hello,

I have installed VLC player on RHEL 7 by fulfilling all dependencies also. But, execution of any video file given below error in GUI Mode.

VLC could not decode the format "h264" (H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10))

Installed plug-ins,
* vlc-2.2.1-6.el7.nux.x86_64
* vlc-core-2.2.1-6.el7.nux.x86_64
* vlc-plugin-jack-2.2.1-6.el7.nux.x86_64

Requesting For Resolution (RFR),

Hello,

The answer is based on ubuntu and I am using RHEL 7..... Please Suggest new URL for solution for VLC.

..where it seems you haven't tried to look this up. If you did, you'd see that you haven't installed the codecs you need to play videos. Also, you don't tell us how you installed either mplayer or vlc, which is important. Mainly because, unless you are PAYING FOR RHEL, you won't be able to use yum, and have probably missed several dependencies. If you are paying for RHEL, then contact Red Hat support...if you're not, stop where you are and load CentOS.

The best suggestion would be to go back and re-read the installation instructions for mplayer/vlc, and try again.

If you want links/URL's, then we will 'suggest' that you try looking things up yourself, rather than asking to be handed things. That URL directed you to the VLC project page..did you read the ensuing links? Did you try to APPLY the pieces in that link to yourself? Or did you just ignore it?
