VLC player on FC3

Am trying to install VLC on a D600 laptop with FC3. Basic instructions say to download the player and required libs and codecs, however the link to the fedora files only lists the main tar file with no additional required files. The main tar is unpacked properly, but the rpm process lists several failed dependencies requesting things like: libcdio.so.0, libiso9660.so.2(ISO9660-2), fribidi, etc (there are 11 total). Apparently these aren't included in the VLC player. Are these part of a lib package that needs to be added also, and where do you get them? My FC3 is fully updated, and the DVD player on the 600 is a sony DVD/CD-ROM unit.

I have exactly the same problem here with FC 3. Installing the RPMs with the --nodeps flag only result in a not-working VLC...
The included libcdio RPM installs fine though, but that doesn't seem to include 'libcdio.so.0' and those other missing things.

EDIT: Read another post from HellSpawn:

yum localinstall videolan-client-0.8.1-1.1.fc3.rf.x86_64.rpm

Might try that to install the deps

That worked perfectly. The deps are automatically installed by yum.
Note that you'll need to update FC3 with the RedHat Network app, at least yum and python. The version that comes with the release doesn't work (well, not here at least).

Good luck!
