vlc player

I have just installed Sourcemage distro and having a problem with vlc media player.

I recently installed the vlc spell and everything seems to went fine. One problem is I do not have any menus showing and when I try to access any of the control keys, nothing happens.

I do see some warning messages if I run it from cli, saying something about wxWidgets not installed.

So I installed the widgets but still not much have changed. Any ideas on how I can get this to work?
