VLC media player opens 2 windows

When i go to play a file using VLC 1.0.4-1fc12 on fedora 12 i get 2 windows that open and display the same video... one window has the play button and such... the other doesn't. How can i get rid of one of these windows?

VLC always had this problem ever since I have known vlc. While playing some media, it opens up a blank OpenGL window and closing it quits the VLC player. I have always been upgrading VLC to the latest version to see this fixed but it has never happened.
