Perhaps you should add the directory containing `libavcodec.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable

This is the last error output from my konsole.
i do not know where to get 'libavcodec'.
[root@localhost ~]# cd /root/MPlayer-1.0pre7try2/libavcodec/

i have "libavcodec" with my MPlayer. Can i use that?If yes then how?
I totally agree with spooon, compiling vlc or mplayer can be a pain. I guess that FC4 is similar to SUSE when it comes to development. You need to install the respective -devel package of each library you would like to include in vlc. From the above output I would guess you still have some way to go until you get a vlc with full functionality. If you have a chance to find a pre-compiled version, take it!
