VLC full screen moves to primary screen

Hi all,

I'm having a problem with VLC media player.
I have my TV configured as a secondary screen.
I start a movie with VLC player on my secondary screen.
However, when I make it full screen the movie shows on my primary screen.
Some report using an optionvideo->device, but I don't have this option.

Has anyone got an idea what I can try?

I'm running debian, gnome on radeon graphics card (S-video out to TV).
VLC player is version 0.8.6h.

Have you tried running vlc on the secondary display explicitly?

Code:
DISPLAY=:0.1 /usr/bin/vlc <some video>

That doens't work.
gtk complains it can't find that display or screen.
Does this require some special kind of setup in xorg.conf?
Or are there options that lead to this command not working?

When you open a terminal windows on the second display, what does it say when you issue the command:

Code:
echo $DISPLAY
That's the value you want to use for the DISPLAY variable on the vlc command.

Thanks for the tip, but on both screens I get :0.0 as result.
But this could also be the case because I start programs on the first display (my computer screen)
and then move them to the other one (tv).
This is because I only have a menubar (or whatever it's called) on my computer screen.

vlc 0.8.6h was released back in 2008. Any reason you're using such an old version?
