VLC does not start

I get this error when trying to play a movie:
root@floyoz:/home/biztroo/Download/Movies# vlc --zoom 2 Fight\ Club\ \[1999\]\ \[Drama\ -\ Thriller\ -\ Action\ -\ Comedy\].avi
VLC media player 0.8.1 Janus
Remote control interface initialized, `h' for help
[00000231] mpeg_audio decoder: MPGA channels:2 samplerate:48000 bitrate:96
X Error of failed request: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)
Minor opcode of failed request: 19 ()
Serial number of failed request: 75
Current serial number in output stream: 76
I thought that it may be some lib och plugin but I am not so sure and there are so many to choose between.
