VLC determine Audio Device Name


Using VLC 2.2.2 on Linux Mint 18.1 using Logitech Pro 9000 webcam

How to determine Audio Device Name. I want to record
video and voice also what Video Standard to use. Having difficulty doing so.

The command 'aplay -l' should list all your sound devices. ( without the quotes ).

As follow up trying to record video and voice. Doing setup as follows:
Media
Capture Device
Video Camera
Video Device Name: /dev/video0
Audio Device Name: HW:0,0
Video Standard: PAL # Have also tried NTSC and SECCAM
Click PLAY

Video saved to file and plays but no audio.

Where to go from here?

Thanks for the tips. But like others did not address my project.
What I wanted to do was practice my delivery of a short talk.
In other words view and listen to my presentation.

Have discovered in the Audio settings that Mute
appears to be blocked with a Red X.
