vision impaired software or distro

Questions if I may

1) Is there a distro, hard drive or live, that enables text to speech by default?

2) Anyone had any experience on how easy it is to use the magnifier type applications?

3) and how easy is it to use with open office?

any links or other tips will be greatly appreciated.

No I am not going blind....altho often drunk (joke) I have a friend I need to convert to Linux
