Question VirtualBox, Ubuntu 6.10 and Bad Devices

I installed VirtualBox on my Ubuntu 6.10 notebook. The install went smooth and I used the wizard to create the virtual hardddrive . I told it it was going to be XP, named it and gave it some memory which created a fixed .VDI file.
When I run VirtualBox I get the following error message:

robb@WS4313:~$ sudo VirtualBox
Password:
Qt WARNING: X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 157
Major opcode: 145
Minor opcode: 3
Resource id: 0x0
Qt WARNING: Failed to open device
Qt WARNING: X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 157
Major opcode: 145
Minor opcode: 3
Resource id: 0x0
Qt WARNING: Failed to open device

At this point the program starts but when I click on "Start" so that I can install the guest OS the machine does a hard reboot.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
ogee

The VirtualBox command does not have to be run with su or sudo. Did you start the daemon first?

Lightbulb VirtualBox Solved

Dracolich, I was starting VirtualBox with sudo because when I started it as a normal user I would get those error messages and nothing else. At least as sudo the program would start, except that when I hit "Start" it would reboot the system. Since then I have uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times and the latest and greatest version has come out which I used.
VirtualBox now starts with a normal user and I have installed XP and all is right with the world. As far as I know I did everything the same on the last install as the earlier ones but this time it worked.
Thanks for you assist
Ogee
