VirtualBox setting resolution via cli

even if I am running in under root I get the same thing

does anyone know how to get around this?

NeverMind I got it. I had to finish setting up the client after installing the add on, adding the user to the group

#usermod -aG vboxsf root
log out log back in.
then the client give it to you.
