Arrow VirtualBox internet connection

Hello!
I am currently using PCLinux & want to switch to Salix...
I've tried it in virtualbox & liked it....I've heard that virtualbox has "generic emulated interface" or something & thats why i can access the internet no matter if i configured network setting on the os it runs on or not...
My question is how can I disable this option so I can install salix as if I am installing on a formated hd... so I can see that I configure network setting corectly...thanks.

Non such problems with virtualbox and salix here. I just have network enabled and set to NAT in the virtualbox options and it just works.

Almost all virtual machines do one of 4 things to allow connections.

One is it duplicates the host nic. Called bridged. I almost never use it but many people do.

Second is NAT. Each VM has a dhcp server and offers dhcp based IP's to clients using dhcp in the network. I tend to use this always.

Third is local. The VM will only allow the VM's to be on a virtual subnet.

Lastly is no nic connection.
