virtualbox install of centos

Just installed virtualbox on Windows xp pro. When trying to install centos 5.1 it wants to format the drive, I get a message "partition table on device hda was unreadable".
"To create new partitions it must be initialized, causing the loss of all data on this drive".

It's just going to initialize the virtual drive?

If you've never formated the virtual drive, you will have to do so now. What's wrong with letting centos create a new partition nable if you don't have one?
