Virtual Machine

I want to install windows xp on my mepis box.

I know that i can grab vmware player from automatix, but my question is how do I install the windows os.

do i need to have a converted windows box on a file server (i dont have a file server)

I am completely clueless!

I've used VMware Server for this: it's not only free, but allows you to create the virtual machine in the first place. VMware player will only let you use already existing ones, not create new ones.

Once it's installed, you create a new virtual machine with the virtual CPU, RAM, hard drive(s) and NIC(s) you want, connect the virtual CD-ROM drive either to your local CD-ROM drive with a Windows install CD in it, or to an Windows install CD ISO file. After that, it's just like installing it on a normal PC.
