vino in Gnome 2.8?

I need help with Vino. I've installed it and set it up. However, whenever I try to connect remotely to one of the computers I get an error stating "ConnectToTcpAddr: connect: Connection refused. Unable to connect to VNC server."

my vino preferences are as follows:

* Allow other user to view your desktop
* allow other user to control your desktop

* Require the user to enter this password: (password)

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Josh

Follow up:

This computer does not have a firewall running currently (although firestarter is installed).

This same computer is having trouble accepting ssh connections as well, ( not just vnc). Any ideas what could be causing this problem?

One problem I had getting vino working was that I didn't realize that there is a server script that needs to be running as well.

run

/usr/libexec/vino-server

then run

vncviewer localhost

make sure that you're not root when you start the server.

This was a problem I had, hope it helps.

The other thing you can check if your forwarding the correct ports if you use a router. I believe it is 5900 for vino.
