Vim /*}}}*/

Hi,

I am working for a company and I am using VIM as my primary development tool. I notice that the last programmer who worked for the company has /*{{{*/ and /*}}}*/ all over the place in his code.

I believe that these tags where there so that he could condense the code using VIM. There was some command he was typing to hide the sections of code so he could get a more global look.

He was fired and now I don't know how to do it.

Can anyone help me on this one?

Thanks,

David

After doing some research I found the proper term "folding".

Google searching this found lots of information.

:set foldmethod=marker

Good search-fu :-]

I use folding a lot since basically that's what using Vi as an outliner amounts to. Great for brainstorms, mindmapping or whatever you call it. Vi works cool enough, no need to use other apps. Here's two links to outliners for anyone interested: TVO: The Vim Outliner and VimOutliner.org.
