Question view another user's terminal?

I am running a small server (Fedora 2) pretty much just for teaching myself and a few friends how to use linux. Occasionally, I will need to help a friend who is not sitting next to me. I find it hard to have them explain the output they get from certain commands, etc. Is there a way that I could open up a copy of their terminal? If there is, would I be able to type commands that they would see or would this be a read-only kind of thing? Everybody connects using PuTTy. I am root, so there aren't any security issues that I am trying to get around or anything. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

i'm not if it's possible to connect simultaneously, but the "screen" application (not a handy name for finding info about!) creates a virual login that you can pick up remotely from wherever. kinda like vnc / remote desktop but without the GUI... there's is no way to take over a normal console though. that's conceptual suicide, even if your context is valid.

thanks for the reply. i kind of figured that you wouldn't be able to do something like that for security reasons. makes sense. guess i'll just have to take away their accounts altogether.

thanks again.
