video too dark in mplayer with full brightness
 

Damn Small Linux plays my video much better than Windows xp without the jerks and freezes in DSL. However, the video is dark. The settings for brightness on the monitor are turned up all of the way. In mplayer, I can right click and go to Equalizer. Brightness is all the way to the maximum there too, however the video is still too dark. With the same videos, it was not a problem in windows, so it is not anything wrong with them.

May be you talk about gmplayer. In mplayer have not GUI on right mouse button.
You can try this keys:
1 and 2 - Adjust contrast.
3 and 4 - Adjust brightness.
5 and 6 - Adjust hue.
7 and 8 - Adjust saturation.
