Video problems upgrading to Fedora 9

I just upgraded my Intel system from Fedora 8 to Fedora 9. When I boot into the system, I cannot enable Desktop Effects. Also when I log in to a KDE session, I get no window decorations, like a title bar etc., for any opened windows.

I suspect these issue are due to the video driver. My system has an nVidia based graphics adapter.

What can I do to fix these problems?

F9 uses a new version of Xorg. Unfortunately there were some delays and this version of Xorg is still considered to be in beta. Nvidia will not support a beta version of Xorg. Since you have to use a Nvidia drivers to use desktop effects you are stuck. You can remove this new version of Xorg and replace it with the older one (the reviews of this are mixed) or you can downgrade to F8. As F9 has a ton of new features (probably more than any previous version) I would advise downgrading to F8. In a couple of months things MAY be better.

What is the best way to keep up to date on when thing might be better, so I can take the actions needed to get my system running well with Fedora 9?
