video problem (stumped)

with any video device (so far; mplayer and tvtime) give me little red X's for the screen output... I believe it is due to a bad XFree86 driver but i have the proper card selected (SiS651). Anyway, it may not be, here is an example of what tvtime looks like when I run it;

http://rooster.teov.org/upload/files/videoerror.png

*note that when tvtime (and mplayer) first come up the screen displays the splash image [mplayer] and a pink screen [for tvtime] until i move or resize it...

Here is my XFree86config;

Code:
Section "Module
    Load "dbe" # Double buffer extension

# This loads the miscellaneous extensions module, and disables
# initialisation of the XFree86-DGA extension within that module.
    SubSection  "extmod"
      Option "omit xfree86-dga" # don't initialise the DGA extension
    EndSubSection

# This loads the Type1 and FreeType font modules
    Load        "type1"
    Load        "speedo"
    Load        "freetype"
#    Load        "xtt"

# This loads the GLX module
    Load       "glx"
# This loads the DRI module
    Load       "dri"

EndSection

Check with the xfree log to see what driver you got and if it supports your chipset.Check with http://www.winischhofer.net for the newest drivers and specs.If everything else besides mplayer and tvtime is ok check what they use for output - xv should work with sis.
