Video players
I have a Windows 8.1 laptop for live streaming and watching videos. I have Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin installed and also Adobe Flash Player 14 Plug In.
Now I'm getting messages telling me that Google Chrome uses HD Flash player and I need to download it right away. Is this right? (I'm not even sure its coming from Google). If I do get the HD player, do I need the others too?
Sorry, I really have little idea of what I'm doing here, so any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
|

You are in the wrong forum, but perhaps we can help.
If you click on a link in an e-mail message, or a link on a questionable website, and you then see instructions to download a video player, you certainly should not download or install it. This is a well-known trick to get you to install a virus or other malware. Only install video players (or other software) from trusted sources.
If you are using Adobe Flash Player, it is probably configured to install updates automatically. If you are not sure, you should go to adobe.com to check whether you need to update your Flash Player.

LQ has a General forum where questions like yours are quite okay.
Beyond that, Beryllos's advice is excellent.
As a suggestion, you might want to take a look at VLC. It's an excellent media player.
