Mplayer is the best video player in Linux by far. You can get it at http://www.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/design6/news.html
It compiles perfectly on my Mandrake 9.1 box and has played every video I've ever tried to watch perfectly.

Get xine ...... I guess thats really cool... plays a wide range of media formats....
Visit the xinehq site mentioned above.. download the files u might need... if U want to ask me wat I did to get it working perfectly well, I got these files...
libxine1-1_cvs-030912.i686.rpm
libdvdread-0.9.4-ogle1.i386.rpm
libdvdnav-0.1.9.tar.gz
libdvdcss-1.2.6-2.network.i386.rpm
w32codec-0.52-1.i386.rpm
xine-ui-0.9.22cvs-030911.i586.rpm
U can get these files by following the links in the home page... install them... and it works without ne mess....
