video material for cinelerra

I've so far managed to capture video from my DV cam. I've played with it with kino but I'd like to try cinelerra.

Ideally I'd like to use MainActor 5 but it's too long in coming.

The question is, how do I convert the AVI produced by Kino of dvgrab to the Quicktime for linux format required by cinelerra ?

The tutorial I've come accross say that kino can do that but I can only see mpeg and divx export (which is great by the way).

Any clue most welcome

kino shows "export as..." in the File menu,
the more plugins and codecs you have installed, the more "export as" options show up

(this was my experience with it,-- I thought I was going to be able to edit avi's with it, but alas not)
