video lan player won`t run

Hi

I have installed video lan player on my Suse 9.0 Linux using the rpm from packman. Yast say`s that all dependencies are satisfied but from a console all I get is this.

tony@linux:~> vlc
VLC media player 0.7.1 Bond
Inconsistency detected by ld.so: ../sysdeps/generic/dl-tls.c: 72: _dl_next_tls_modid: Assertion `result <= _rtld_local._dl_tls_max_dtv_idx' failed!
tony@linux:~>

My Kernel version is 2.4.21-144

I also have the latest NVIDIA graphics driver installed

This is the only programme that I haven`t been able to get to work.
I want to be able to watch xrm tv as I do using winamp on windows xp.
I have tried xine and mplayer but none of them worked for xrm tv.

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Tony

I have not gotten VLC to load properly ever. I prefer Mplayer over the rest for video.

I don't think that format is supported by any linux players. I can't find anything on google, google.com/linux, or winamp, that resemble even a glimmer of hope that the format is supported. I toyed with it briefly when I still had Windows on my computer, so I don't know its nuances. Can you play these streams on Windows Media Player or Realplayer? Or, any of the other players out there? If not, it may be only a Winamp thing. perhaps XMMS works with the .nsv format. It does have some compatibilities...
