video encoder (Tv-tuner + VCR)
What's up Linux world!?!?!?!?!!
Well as my title says, I am looking for an application that can encode video from a Tv-tuner(ati tv-tuner pro) I have old videos music videos, movie videos in fact I have Batman on VHS that I would like to capture it then convert it to a dvd :D . So I tried xawtv but it does not seem to record the sound perhaps that's because i have a cheap soundcard? or I am assuming that I have to merge both sound and video after eh? The reason why I am asking here is to also get feedback on which software is the best or easiest or has more features than other. I did google and found tons and tons of software, but better to ask the people b4 installing anything. Anyhow this i what I want, take my old vhs videos, capture the video in either mpeg or avi format with sound, then formatting it to a the dvd format such as vob i guess. I saw mkdvd sounds promising i have never used it. If anyone has and suggestions I would love to hear from you Ps here are some of the specs that I am working with Tv-tuner - Ati Tv-tuner pro soundcard - Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM video card - nvidia 64 megs cpu - P4 2.4 HT :D Thanks :D |
I heard MythTV runs well for doing those kinds of tasks. To do that, I would recommend using Ubuntu, as you can install MythTV quite easily. (Use latest version.). It can be a real pain to install in some distros.

Myth tv eh yeah I gave that a try once seemed to work ok expect for the fine tunning of the channels but if I use the comp1 option there's no need to fine tune. sound is another thing though.
I was considering Myth-tv as my last option thou. Does anyone else have any suggestions? |
