Video Editor with certain features

I am in need of a video editing program that will edit videos already on my hard-drive or can capture video from a sd/sdhc card reader. it also has to be able to edit mpeg 2 and MOD files. I've tried Kino and Open Editor and while stable, neither one open from usb devices. I've thought about Kdenlive but from all Ive read it has a few too many bugs to be reliable. Any suggestions?
