Video delay in MPlayer?

I have a video file and I'm playing it in MPlayer, and the audio is fine and runs at normal talking speed, but the video moves like 2 seconds every 1 second so it looks like the movements are going very fast. How do I slow it down so I can make it in sync with the audio?

go into Mplayer preferences and try a different video driver....(xv,x11)...etc.
