xnview is great on windows but I'm unable to install it on my gentoo.
There are also other than can play videos but won't let me manage them.
I can play with mplayer or vlc but can't delete or move video files.
Any suggestions on which linux program can do what i want.
Isn't that what a file manager is for ? Like konqueror, thunar, nautilus, rox-filer, etc. What's wrong with using those ? Or is that not what you want here ?
You do know that xnview is available for *nix, right? Well, at least for x86. But you'll probably have to compile it yourself from source.
Debian search turns up an app called pornview, which in spite of the name sounds like just what you're looking for--a full-fledged multimedia manager. I'm not sure if it's a very active project though.
yes, I know of xnview. However, it fails to compile properly for gentoo. I've tried every which way with no success. That's what I use on my windows box and love it. There are not xnview ebuilds that I know of that work. I'll check out pornview.
thanks

Perhaps you should really try to figure out why you don't seem to be able to build any of these packages then.
Also, a simple google search on "gentoo pornview" turned up an unofficial package for it.
Finally, what about TeXMeX's question? What's wrong with using a regular file browser? With Konqueror I can list files, open them with the player of my choice, and I can certainly move or delete them. With the kio multimedia plugins I can even get thumbnails on hover. What else do you need?
