ViaCyrix to Pentium to ViaCyrix Problems

Ok, here's what I've got. I've swtiched between processors to verify that the Pentium 650 worked. I ran it for a week. Yes it did. Hooray another successful ebay purchase. So, i've decided to go back to my ViaCyrix 800 because i'd like to use the Pentium 650 else where.

After replacing the CPU, the machine (running Redhat9) fails to load several daemons upon startup. Those are...


I can't log on to the machine except in failsafe mode. What to do, what to do.

To answer any questions...
Yes, i did foolishly do many automatic updates while using the Pentium 650. One, was the kernel.

Any suggestions on where to start looking?

start with the kernel, this is probably where your problem is
