Very Very Slow OpenOffice getting on my nerves...
I'm trying to run OpenOffice on GNOME, FC2, and it is exceedingly slow. Load times are ridiculously long and working within it is a nightmare. Just begining to type a sentence causes the program to "freeze" up for several seconds. The constant delays within it are driving me nuts! How can I get OpenOffice to run faster and smoother?

hey i remember i had that problem a long time ago. did you download a newer versionthat what came with FC2. also do any other programs freeze up like that? if you are just using it for word processing get rid of it and use abiword, its more like MS Word if youre using it for school and stuff it would work better.

Try installing Blackdown java and setting it as default on your system. That's recommended for Gentoo users, at least.

I used Apt-get to update OpenOffice, so I'm pretty sure I have the latest version. I think I'll go along with your suggestion to get abiword, because OO is getting to be a real pain in the butt.

if all youre using it is for word processing then def go with abi word. you dont need OO taking up all that space and not using it. abi word is more like M$ word, if your used to that.
