verifying if running 64bit OS
 

Hey guys,

I am using the AMD Athlon64 cpu and just built a kernel using 2.4.23-rc5 which has support for AMD64 (x86_64 K8) I have enabled the CONFIG_MK8 option in the Kernel and everything is fine, the box is performing OK.

My problem is; how do I know it is running 64bits? I know most if not all apps are running 32 or 16bits but what about the OS? how can I check that?

dmesg and lspci show that the CPU is recognized but it does not tell me anything else.
