Vector art applications without bizarre two-handled curved lines?

Macromedia Flash, in Windows, lets you draw curved lines simply by clicking anywhere on an existing line and dragging wherever you see fit. There are no bizarre nodes or handles you can drag to make weird minute adjustments to the line that you could easily and simply make with the way Flash lets you draw curved lines.

I've been looking for a replacement vector art utility for Linux. I don't need animation; I only ever draw comics. All the programs I've checked out so far (OpenOffice Draw, Sodipodi, etc.) draw curved lines with nodes and weird stuff like that that I can't get the hang of and don't want to bother with.

Running Flash on WINE is not an acceptable solution for heavy-duty drawing; just enough little things are missing (shortcuts, colour selection, etc) to make it annoying as hell to deal with.

Does anyone know of a Linux application that would allow me to draw curves the way I like?

Thanks in advance!

Give Dia a try, I just installed it today. Haven't played round with it to much but it is a vector drawing app

Dia draws curved lines with handles at each end also, except where you only have a point in the middle you can drag to curve it, which isn't precise enough for me.

Dia in general is too rough for what I like to do. I need colouring, gradients, zoom, layers, the works...

Something with the ability to do that sort of thing.

Thanks, though!
