Valve's Steam stuff and Linux?

I have a subscription to Steam from Valve ( http://www.steampowered.com ) and I would love to play their games in linux. Valve's stuff includes Counter-Strike, Half-Life, Death Match Classic, Team Fortress Classic, etc. However, they're all native windows applications, and Steam resides in the system tray. So I'm not sure how to get started on all this ... should I get WineX? I think that would be the best way to go but I'm not sure. It would be very cool if Steam could reside in Linux's system tray too, although I doubt that's possible within easy measures. Any advice?

Thanks!

your best-bet is cedega, the new version of winex (www.transgaming.com). you can either try to get cedega via cvs and compile the source (this guide http://www.linux-gamers.net/modules/...p?articleid=26 may help, but it is old, and i wasn't able to get cedega/winex to completely compile anymore...it worked a while back), or you can pay $15 for a 3 month subscription to get a precompiled deb or rpm package including support for cd-copy protected games. i'd say it's a pretty good deal because you get to vote on which games you would like the devs to work on in the future also.
