V4L2 programs gives different results

I have written a program in C using V4l2 to capture images from a web camera. Actually the program does more than that. It also let's you specify the exposure value (manually) so as to get shots with different exposures.

So far so good, I tried it, it takes the photos (well sometimes select gives you a time out- as I post in another thread-but ok)

The problem is when I take a photo with the same settings on luvcview, the results- the pictures- are different . This is particularly so with extreme values for exposure (say maximum and maximum -1)

Does anybody have any experience with V4L2 programming that can comment on what could be happening here?

I suppose my last resource would be trying to find the source code for luvcview and reading it...

Thanks a lot
