I have to use linux-windows computer, so I need a partition which both can access. I used fat for a while, but due to problems with linux permitions, samba, etc. Also, it now is patented. So, I decided to change it for a ext3 partition and install a ext3 driver in windows. But now I have problems with special characters (I'm a spanish speaker)
In ntfs, it's possible to change the charset to UTF-8 (that's what my linux uses) using the nls option, with fat, the same thing can be done using the iocharset option. But with ext3 I can't find the specific one.
Does any body know that?

What do you mean it's patented? How would that prevent you from using it?

I read something about that, but I don't understand about legal terms (maybe you can use it without problems). But it's not the main problem. It's just one more reason to change to ext3
