Using Xpaint to Crop an Image File

I would like to know how to use Xpaint to perform the following functions.

1. Cropping an image file
2. Adding text to a selected area in an image file.

Any help will be much appreciated.

You could start by reading a simple tutorial. It has simple step by step instructions which you can follow.

Try the gimp though. It's probably already installed on your system, and it's very easy to use.

Thanks for encouraging me to use Gimp. It took me very little time to use Gimp to crop an image file (via Tools->Transform Tools-> Crop) and add some text to it. Indeed Gimp is not as hard as it seems.
