using wine with ubuntu 9.04 on a DELL Inspirion 530
I am still having problems running wine on ubuntu 9.04. The Dell pc I am using was purchased with ubuntu 8.10 pre-installed by Dell, I then upgraded to 9.04 and now all is fine....Except wine. I have the latest version installed.
When accessing wine, the screen continues to flash and everything slows down to a crawl, even the desktop and mouse clicks are delayed. To stop this I am required to do a system restart. Any ideas? If any suggestions require terminal entries, please could you let me know what to type? Thanks All Itbod |
are you using nvidia for graphics? Either way it looks like a glx problem with wine. If your using nvidia you'll have to re-install the graphix driver....maybe just install nvidia-glx, not sure, but i'm guessing it has to do with your drivers and glx.
A couple questions quick... What is your video chipset? Do you have 32bit or 64bit? Those 2 questions would help a lot, as it would give me an idea where to start. |
Hi
I belive it is a nvida-glx card. running 32bit. Don't know what chipset it's using, system says it has 8mb ram for video. How do I re-install the graphix driver? Sorry to sound a little silly but I am still learning linux, used to be a DOS guy for years. regards Itbod |
try installing nvidia drivers if that's what it is based off of
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...linux.-749929/ I'm guessing you have onboard video? |
Hi
just found out my system is using an ATI/AMD FGLRX driver for the video and that it is a proprietry driver in use. Any ideas? |
=S We'd need to know what chipset it's based off of.

I will try to contact Dell and see if they know what chipset they are using. Whatch this space.
Thanks |
