Using Synergy from Ubuntu(server) to Windows(client)

So I've used Synergy successfully in almost every permutation. Mac to mac, Mac to Windows etc.

But one I cannot get to work is Ubuntu (server) to Windows(client)

I get one warning

Quote:

[2017-04-16T09:25:10] WARNING: cannot listen for clients: cannot bind address: Address already in use
which doesn't make sense, I only have one instance of Synergy running. But I went ahead and tried changing ports on both machines. Removed warning but still can't connect!

and a repeating DEBUG message in the log

Quote:

`[2017-04-16T09:25:18] DEBUG2: can't read property 589 on window 0x0040`0
And when I try and scroll mouse cursor to 2nd desktop get

Quote:

[2017-04-16T09:31:33] DEBUG1: try to leave "foo" on right
[2017-04-16T09:31:33] DEBUG1: no neighbor right
Running activated versions of latest Synergy (1.8.8) on both machines. Also have tried with SSL encryption on-off, turning off firewall in Windows.

Can anyone suggest either a solution or why it doesn't work?
