Using root user with vsftp

Hi. I am running RH9 on a networked box. I have vsftp running and i can log in as a user. I am the only one administrating this box and I only need to use ftp over the netwrok from another computer. I want to be able to ftp in as root, to have complete access to all the files. If I login as the other user, of course i do not have permission to write files anywhere i want. i edited /etc/vsftpd.ftpusers and deleted root as a disabled user, and restarted the service, but i still cannot login as root. what is wrong?

Don't use ftp. It's plaintext, any script-kiddie can just pick your passwords up from your network. I'll refraim from telling you how to give away your root password, because that's just too insecure.
Use ssh, and scp to transfer files.
There are other file transfer programs for ssh, but i've found scp to be the lightest and most available. Also note that ssh makes administration simpler because you get a terminal to that computer as if you where sitting right at it. You can even route X11 over the network too, if you don't like the console.

Yeah use ssh and/or sftp, also as teval said you can enable x11 to do so, just edit the file

/etc/ssh/ssh_config

and uncomment or add the line

ForwardX11 yes
