using rdev

I have CentOS 5 and from what I have been able to understand from the man page of redev

redev -r or ramsize can be used to display the ramsize
rdev -v or vidmode can be used to display the video mode

however for me no options of rdev are working except 'redev ' given without any arguments

outupt of rdev -r or rdev -v just prodeces the rdev -h help page

what am I doing wrong ?

rdev -r and rdev -v require extra parameters, for example:

rdev -r /dev/fd0 627

rdev -v /dev/fd0 1
