Using NetworkManager under WindowMaker
distro:Fedora core 8 , Window Maker installed from tarball-source.

As the title say, I'd need to use Network Manager under Window Maker. More precisely I can't manage to connect using my wireless NIC despite the fact that the card's light turns on and I can start NM service and use nm-tool successfully; naturally I already managed to connect via wireless under GNOME, using NM.

As for NM related programs, I've got that nm-applet fails to run and nm-* GUI configuration programs don't display any wireless connection, nor they let me add them as root.

anyway, shouldn't that freaking NM service's functionalities be independent from the desktop environment you use???

Yeah, but so far the only usable front-ends to the "functionalities" are on Gnome or KDE :)

Why couldn't you just use ndiswrapper, maybe trough a script?

Yeah, but so far the only usable front-ends to the "functionalities" are on Gnome or KDE
and I'd like to have a CLI one* :(!

I'm going to disable NM on the wireless nic if I can't manage to achieve the connection, of course; anyway I've found some hints for a simple (maybe) script using python and dbus API , which I never used btw...

* isn't it strange that a system service hasn't got a cli-interface in Linux? Where are we going ?
