Using Nautilus-Connect-Server (or equivalent) on the command line - Ubuntu

Pretty much as the title says I would like the equivalent command of nautilus-connect-server from the command line. The man page does not offer much help so it seems that nautilus is gui only. I want to use a command line tool that I can script and still have the desktop Icon of the mount drive show up.

I've decided after all that this is not the best choice. For anyone else working with intergrating Ubuntu into Active directory note that nautilus-connect-server uses something called gnome-vfs to refer to the network connections. gnome-vfs is integrated into some gnome apps but is not compatible with many non gnome apps. The result is if you "map" a network directory and you want to save something from firefox for example you will not be able to select the network directory. Too bad, it was looking promising.
