Using CVS to version control Blender files?

Well as the title suggests, does anyone know if I can use CVS to version control a .blend file?

I've read that CVS doesn't work very well with binary data like images/zip files/.exe/.bin etc, but I don't know enough about the blender file format to know whether it'll work or not.

I'll probably give this a go when I get home (I'm at work now) but thought I'd ask here incase anyone's tried this before or can give me any guidance about whether I need to do anything with the cvswrapper file in the CVS repository or anything else.

Well, it would see them and it could catalog them, but it would not be able to diff them. So it couldn't tell you what was different from one blend to another, say in Blender terms.

Been there .. tried that ..

Can you suggest a version control system that will allow me to track changes between different versions of a blender file, and role back changes etc?

There doesn't seem to be much point in using CVS for versioning the blender files if it's unable to do this task.

Thanks for your help.
