Using computer while writing audio CD to flac?

I am converting all of my audio CDs to flac. While BURNING cds, I know it is a bad idea to use the computer, as this can lead to a poor quality burn. Is this the same when transfering the contents of audio CDs to the HD? I am using Sound Juicer.

Not with any modern PC it shouldn't be a problem. Ripping a CD while copying large files around on the same IDE channel would put unnecessary load on your machine but stuff like web browsing, word processing or chatting won't be an issue.
