using an alternate Java VM within Firefox, rather than the JRSE itself

Hi,

I've been looking through several websites, as my intention is to give Java support for my browser, in this case, Firefox 1.0, under an LFS system, but to be honest, I've been using the JRSE 5.0 under windows at work and it's really slow, my question is:

Is there any good alternative to the Java VM being that not a Sun implementation? I mean... some kind of VM like... Cacao, Kaffe, SableVM, but what I expect from those VM's are to be able to work within Firefox, as I'm not a Java programmer, my intention is just to be able to execute Java code present in some websites

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks in advance,

Julio

Java

I'm using blackdown-jre and blackdown-jdk, and most of the linux users do I think, since it's included in much distro's. I'm also using FireFox, and never experienced (java)troubles.

Hmm... interesting, but... can it be compiled from source or maybe... it's closed source? I would be interested in a VM compilable from source, just to be sure I can take 'advantage' of compiler flags for my Athlon64...
