Using acidrip to create iPod compatible movies

I'm trying to rip a movie dvd to play in my iPod but so far I've not had luck with the format. I tried the xvid format, but it wouldn't play in the player.

What are the settings needed in the acidrip program to get the correct format for viewing movies with the iPod?

Regards.

hah, screwed if i know mate...

all i can say is that you should try to cut out acidrip if you want to do such a specialised thing, either literally or logically, in that it will be an option for mencoder underneath, not acidrip, so it's down to mencoder really.

I tried several formats with acidrip. I guess mencoder doesn't produce the correct format. I had to use ffmpeg after ripping.

I don't understand, because the output format is the same as the input file so ffmpeg produces the same format file, but only the output file works with the ipod video.

Here's the page with the technical specs:
http://www.apple.com/ipod/specs.html

ipod is very finicky... however, it works now, but I have to do ripping and encoding separately.
