Using a "hidden partition"

Hi all,

Is anyone aware of any product, commercial or otherwise, that actually uses a "hidden partition" with some kind of executables on it?

Also, I have read somewhere that old Compaqs stored at least a part of their BIOS settings on the hard disk. Is this true?

I have a Hewlett-Packard with a four gig hidden partition where all the OEM software is. I've never been sure if anything on it was used by the actually installed system or not. Not so far as I can figure, but I'm still not positive.

I'm not sure I understand your question, though. And I don't know about the Compaq issue. I wouldn't think so, though.
