Using a guitar tuner with mic input

Hi all,

I'm trying to use fmit, gtkguitune, and lingot instrument tuners and my problem is that I cannot get them to detect my guitar input.

I am using a Terratec DMX 6fire sound card and have figured out how the gnome volume control panel and Envy24 control work. I can plugin my guitar to the mic input, and I can see the guitar signal on the signal meters, and I can also hear the guitar from my PC speakers. However, when I want to use the tuners, they don't pickup the guitar signal from the mic input. I can't figure out how to route the mic signal to the tuners.

Can anyone please shed some light on this? I've googled for this but couldn't find anything helpful. I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 if that helps.

Thanks a lot
Spiros

You will need to set the sound capture system for these applications. Also make sure to stop other audio programs (like jackd) that could keep the capture device hostage. ALSA is the newer flexible sound system on Linux, but in some cases OSS (the older one) can also work well.
Unfortunately sound related issues are difficult to deal when they do not run out-of-the-box.
